How it works
Runaway connects directly to each AI tool's billing API using the API key you provide. Every 15 minutes it polls for updated spend data and shows it in your dashboard. No proxies, no code changes needed on your end.
Nothing at all. You just paste your existing API key into Runaway. Your code keeps working exactly as it does today — we only read your billing data, we never touch your API traffic.
Your first sync happens within 15 minutes of adding an integration. After that, data refreshes automatically every 15 minutes in the background.
Security & privacy
Yes. Every API key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is written to the database. The raw key is never stored in plain text, never logged, and never returned to the browser after you save it. Only the last 4 characters are ever displayed.
No. Runaway only uses your key to read billing and usage data. It cannot create completions, generate content, or spend your credits.
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway in the US. We do not sell or share your data with any third party.

Supported AI tools
Currently Runaway has native adapters for OpenAI and Anthropic. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Mistral, Cohere, Replicate, and Together AI are on the roadmap. Any tool with a billing API can be added.
You can still add it — Runaway will store the integration and mark it as coming soon. You will get notified when the adapter is ready. No spend data will be missed once support launches.
Yes. You can add the same tool multiple times with different labels — for example OpenAI Production and OpenAI Staging as two separate integrations, each tracked independently.
